Parsha Reflections: Parshat Chukat
This week’s parsha opens with the “chok” (a law that has seemingly no logic or reason behind it) of para aduma, or the red cow. The para aduma is a rare and completely red cow that was used for purification. Its ritual is one of the most mysterious in all of Judaism…and honestly, we think that’s pretty fabulous.
Not everything needs to make sense to everyone in order to be beautiful, sacred, and deeply meaningful. Sometimes the most powerful magic happens in the mystery.
So regardless of who “understands” us and who does not, we’re gonna keep on dancing at the Pink Pony Club…with her lesser known relative, the red heifer. And no one is going to stop us.
